'Conscious Fragility'
The folded, paper-like forms embody moments of stillness and consciousness, preserved in glass as a reminder of their fleeting yet profound significance. Though they appear as fragile as paper, these are solid and enduring forms. A polished surface creates the illusion of depth, drawing the viewer into the heart of the piece; inviting a moment of awareness and quiet connection.
The forms begin as folded paper, dipped in wax, then cast in solid glass. This process captures the mindful act of making.
'Imprint'
The sculpture explores interconnectedness. In particular, the profound link between mother and child.
The work is a composition of two forms. A larger 'Mother' form, which has a negative space within it and a smaller 'child' form that exists harmoniously beside it. The negative space is an impression left behind on the 'Mother' form and its influence/impact is still visible; represented by the movement captured in the glass. The two objects share a colour palette, which signifies the intrinsic connection between them.
The piece is created using core casting, lost wax and casting directly from folded paper.
