Cast Glass is a solid, 3D, form of glass. The technique of casting glass involves creating a mould, which is then filled with cold, crushed glass and melted in the kiln.
The courses take place at Jade Pinnell's studio in the picturesque town of Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire. The studio is part of a complex of buildings; the Tithebarn Workshops. There is also a cafe on site.
Each group course can have a maximum of 3 students. If you require all 3 spaces you are welcome to book the entire day for your group.
You will make a 3D glass piece roughly 12cm x 12cm x 2.5cm. It will be a freestanding sculpture, entirely designed and made by you, that will look fantastic displayed on the windowsill or next to a light source.
Due to the nature of the process, your glass piece won't be ready to come home with you on the day. The aim of the course is to create a model and then a mould, which will be ready to fire at the end of session. It will be fired within 2-3 weeks. Jade will contact you once the work is ready for collection or it can be posted. If collecting you may wish to come back and do a full cold-working day to finish your piece, which you can book as an add-on to your course, OR you may just wish to de-mould the piece and take it home with you as it is.
If posting Jade will ensure the piece is washed and any sharp bits are removed for you. P&P is £10.
If there isn't a date that suits, please do get in touch. It is also possible to create an entirely bespoke day for you or your group. I can accommodate up to 6 students. Discounts available for multiple bookings.
